Tamara de Lempicka's 'Portrait of a Young Girl in a Green Dress' ...
... circa 1930, laminated on to a versatile matte black powder-coated book-fold metal box.
~*Tamara de Lempicka (1898-1980)*~ was a Polish expat art deco artist, painting in Paris during the 1920s. Her distinctive style of elegant, 'soft cubism' was influenced by many of the innovative artists of the era, and she rapidly became sought out by the aristocracy and the fashionable elite. Her work was embraced by the burgeoning feminist and bisexual intellectuals, and she became friends with lesbian icons such as Sackville-West and Colette. After a divorce caused by a passion for another woman, de Lempicka married a Baron Kuffner, and lived long enough in the US to see her work become fashionable once more.*~
The case is 3.5"/9cm long, 3"/7.5cm wide, and the depth when closed is 0.75"/2cm. Both halves when opened have spring clasps to hold the contents in place.
A brilliant 'conversation piece' gift for storing all those scraps with scribbled phone numbers, with a super chic 1920s/30s nostalgic design!
