Kashmiri Sparkle - Lac & Glitter Drop Earrings by Cru
£3.95 Quantity available: 1
Unusual to match two Kashmiri beads ...
... as they are handmade, but these two are, within a couple of milimetres, the same size. The surface of each is decorated with dense glitter in silver, red and blue tones, finished with dyed 'lac' diamonds in amber-red and royal-sapphire blue.
I've mounted them, with vintage Indian cast beads, on 'feature length' silver plated long kidney earwires - drop from your earlobe is 1.5"/3.3cm, and the weight is Light - suitable for all ages.
~*Kashmiri Beads*~ is a generic term for a style of bead originally produced in and around the Kashmir Province. They have a large hole and a tube core of silver or pewter amalgam, designed to be threaded on traditional leather thong. The bead is then overlaid by hand with clay, and tiny glass beads, natural opaque 'lac' resin and silver amalgam wire are pressed in to create the distinctive designs. In modern times, extras such as sequins and acrylic 'jewels' are sometimes used to achieve the same exotic 'trade bead' look.*~
Elegant, yet exotic!
