Beneath the leaves lies the Unseelie Court ...

A work drawn from my childhood here - although I grew up in a New Town, the planners kept many old woods, buildings and ancient roads - guess where I spent my time daydreaming?! So I've expressed what I 'saw' with beads - lots of greens, of course - in the form of new and vintage glass, millefiore, acrylic and semi-precious aventurine - and lots of bark browns and reds too, in the form of brecicated jasper, Indian lampwork, shell, smoky quartz and other bits of golds and wood.

I've worked in the fascinating colours of the low-growing flowers and flashes of light with Swarovski and Czech crystal; pink agate chips; glowing 50s dark amber lucite 'leaves'; rough amethyst and rose quartz; faux amber; an 80s millefiore silver drop, more Indian lampwork and a copper-set emerald glass round, all finished off with sparkly acrylic leaves.

The inhabitants are: a silver woodpecker, a Hill Tribe pure silver dragonfly; and hidden amongst the leaves are three silver fairies and a pewter fairytale castle (you'll have to hunt for them!). I've added my own handmade wooden charms of the kind of fairies I always imagined living amongst the leaf litter, and a 'fairy castle' tree stump.

I've deliberately crowded everything on to a narrow brass chain, which means it looks different each time you put it on - no amount of fiddling and shaking will make it lay flat and do what you want - rather like Nature herself! But you're bound to turn up something you hadn't noticed before ;-) This absorbing piece measures 7"/18cm (let me know if you'd like it resized before I despatch), everything is mounted on to robust gold and silver-plated pins, and it comes appropriately gift-wrapped, of course.
